Chamois Hollow boned, hoofed animal related to the antelope and found in many mountains of Europe and parts of the Eastern Mediterranean countries. It's size is that of a large goat, is light brown with a black tail, and a black stripe, also with black markings on its face. The horns have terminal hooks pointed backward.
There hoofs can grip on the rocky surfaces , and it leaps with agility. In the summer it forges for food to the snowline . The original Chamois leather, is the skin of this animal , the Chamois has now also been introduced to New Zealand. |
