Condor American vulture, found in a high areas of the Andes of South America and in the Rocky Mountains of California. Condors are the largest of the birds of prey, nearly 50 in. in a length and a wingspan of 9 to 10 ft.. Curvaceous they prefer eating carrion, but at times will attack living animals as big as deer. They usually have two eggs in a cliff nest made of twigs; the baby condos will not be able to fly until they are about a year old. The Andean condor has black plumage with white wing patches and a white neck ruff . The gray colored head and neck are bare; the male species has a comb of wattles. The rare California condor or California vulture is all black with white wing bands. |
