There are many different varieties some short, smooth hair and others with long hair, and a great range of color combinations, mixtures of white and black and many shades of brown. When fully grown they reach a length of 10 in. and a weigh about 1 lb.. In North America and Europe the Guinea pig is sometimes kept as a pet, but there are still used as a laboratory animal for testing serums and anti toxins. |
