Jerboa Is a small, jumping rodent found in North Africa and Asia, and southeast Europe. Jerboas have longer hind legs , for which they move somewhat like a kangaroo leaps , and has short front legs used only to grasp food . This size varies from 2 to 8 in; the tail tufted at the tip , is 2 in. longer than the body length.
Jerboas are sandy above and white underneath. Most species are nocturnal, gregarious, burrowing desert dwellers and are seed eaters able to go without water. The similar kangaroo rat and jumping mouse of North America are not of the same family as the jerboa. |
