The tail is long and muscular and serves as a balance while leaping, and also as a prop when standing, fighting, and moving slowly. Their front limbs, are small but are efficient for grasping. There are various kangaroos, includes the great gray kangaroo, largest member; the wallaroo ; the red kangaroo , common in zoos ; the brush kangaroo or Wallaby , smaller and familiar in all zoos of Europe and America; the tree kangaroo, with fore and hind limbs nearly equal in length; and lastly the rat kangaroo, which is about the size of a hair. |
