Meadow lark A common bird in North America belonging to the blackbird family, also called meadow starling. unlike other black birds they do not travel in large flocks. The Eastern meadow lark, known for its clear, whistling song, is about 10 in. long. Its color, is with black on the upper parts and yellow below and with a broad black crescent across the chest, the Western species has a lower call and is smaller. Past experiments have shown that the two species do not interbreed. |
