Peccary Being the only wild native Pig from the Americas. When in danger it fights viciously with its tusks. There are two species: the Collared peccary or javelina, its briskly , grizzled and gray black hair marked with a white neck band and , survives in small numbers in parts of Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas and is more numerous southward to Patagonia; the white lipped peccary is found from central Mexico to Paraguayan. Both the sexes have a musk gland on the rump .
Peccaries eat a variety of plant and animal foods. Their flesh is palatable. |
