Tasmanian devil Belonging to the marsupial family this animal is extremely ferocious, and now found only in the island of Tasmania. Formerly found also in Australia the Tasmanian devil is about the size of a badger, it has a large head and powerful jaws, weak hindquarters, and a stumpy 12 in. tail. The fur is somewhat blackish with white patches on the throat, and also on each side and on the rump.
Like the Tasmanian wolf , which has been exterminated all believed to be, because of its inroads on the domestic poultry and livestock, the Tasmanian devil also preys on the Wallaby , lizards, rodents, and other small animals. |
